About AIM
Action in Montgomery (AIM, est. 2000), is a broad-based community power organization, and rooted in Montgomery County’s neighborhoods and congregations. We are non-partisan, multi-faith, multi-racial, and dedicated to making our county and state a better place to live and thrive.
You’ll find us working for change: door-to-door and in living rooms, in churches and classrooms, in front of the County Council and at the State House in Annapolis.

Our Future-Driven Mission
Since 2000, Action in Montgomery has built citizen power to effect change by developing leaders in congregations, public schools, and neighborhood associations to act together on issues that matter to their communities. See Power in Action AIM's campaigns are built around leaders in real communities throughout Montgomery County.
Organizing for Statewide Power
Building on our two decades of community organizing in Montgomery County, AIM is spearheading the formation of a statewide organization that will build power to create change at for all Marylanders. We are ready to join together our sister affiliates in Baltimore, Howard County, Anne Arundel, and Prince George’s County to take on the issues that impact Marylanders including equity in education, police reform, jobs, the environment, affordable housing, and comprehensive regional transportation.
Organizing for Local Change
At the same time, we want to continue to make progress on our local campaigns for schools, affordable housing, police reform and tenant organizing, so we are committed to hiring a second bi-lingual organizer in AIM.

You can easily make your annual gift to AIM by recommending a grant to our organization through your donor-advised fund. If you need AIM’s tax ID, it is 52-2032072. Please let us know if you authorize a grant, so our team can be on the lookout for your donation.

By donating appreciated assets held longer than one year, you can avoid paying capital gains taxes that would otherwise apply if the asset were sold. Please note: It can take several weeks to process these types of gifts, even for ACH and wire transfers.

Individuals aged 70½ and older can direct up to $105,000 per year from their traditional IRAs (and $108,000 beginning January 1) to charities like AIM through QCDs. A QCD can be used to satisfy all or part of the donor’s RMD and is not considered taxable income. RMDs are mandatory for those aged 73 and above.

A beneficiary designation is one of the most efficient ways to make an estate gift and leave a legacy with AIM. You can specify individuals and charities you wish to support and designate the percentage of assets each beneficiary will receive. Common assets that allow beneficiary designations include retirement plans, investment accounts, life insurance policies, wills, trusts, and more.
Each year, AIM works with thousands of individuals to build relationships, develop leadership skills, and deliver tangible victories through collective action.
