Juneteenth with the Historic African-American Scotland Community
Monday June 19, 9 am – 4 pm
Interfaith and Social Action Pavilion
“What it Means to be a Good Neighbor”
at the 2023 Scotland Juneteenth Heritage Festival
Cabin John Village Mall, Potomac MD
This annual Juneteenth festival is being greatly expanded this year to raise funds to rebuild the Scotland AME Zion Church in Potomac which was rendered unusable by a flood in 2019.
As we celebrate the past, present and future of one of the first places in our county African Americans owned land, the Scotland community, we will be hosting Get to Know your Neighbors Bingo – an activity that will meaningfully connect hundreds of our residents to one another.
We are working to fulfill the vision of Festival Chairperson, and fifth-generation resident of Scotland, Latisha Gasaway-Paul, that the community connections we build from this Festival will help to improve lives and foster greater understanding for many generations to come.
Participating is EASY!
