“Forging Our Future” Budget Hearing Action
On Tuesday, April 8, close to 100 people from AIM showed up to the Montgomery County Council budget hearing!
AIM’s powerful speakers, including teachers, parents, a principal, and an elementary school student, advocated for our priorities in this year’s budget:
Excel Beyond the Bell Elementary in Waters Landing and East Silver Spring Elementary Schools,
Linkages to Learning at Burnt Mills Elementary School, and
Accessible and affordable pre-K for 3- and 4-year-olds.
This action was a continuation of our action in October 2024, where we gained commitments from County Executive Elrich to include these priorities in his proposed budget. On April 8, we were showing the County Council how important it was to keep these programs in the budget, so that every child can reach their fullest potential.
Dozens of parents and students from Waters Landing, East Silver Spring, and Burnt Mills Elementary Schools showed up to make their voices heard, as well as AIM leaders from congregations and issue action teams.
Thank you to our AIM speakers and everyone who attended for sharing your energy, excitement and support for ensuring that all children in Montgomery County have the resources they need to succeed.
