DREAM Petition Nets 75,000 Signatures

Now that opponents of the state DREAM Act have collected more than 75,000 signatures for a petition to overturn the bill, the legislation's final fate may be left in the hands of voters in the upcoming election.Delegates turned in the signatures opposing the legislation, which would grant in-state tuition to undocumented students who meet certain qualifications to the state Board of Elections. If the board deems 8,500 of those signatures valid by July 20, the bill may officially be put on the 2012 state elections ballot.
