Rally on Wednesday, November 6
Come spend your lunch break with other AIM and IAF leaders supporting the brave men and women striking at Cinder Bed Road to stand up for public transit for us all.
WMATA General Manager Paul Wiedefeld is contracting out good middle class jobs to companies who cut wages, cut benefits, and cut corners on safety.
In 2018, Wiedefeld gave public bus routes in Cinder Bed Road in Lorton, Virginia to Transdev, a multinational company with a bad reputation. Wiedefeld lets Transdev mistreat local workers and passengers and lets Transdev:
- Pay workers $12 per hour less than a regular WMATA bus operators
- Make workers pay a $6,000 deductible for their health insurance
- Leave workers with no hope for retirement benefits
- Employ people part-time – even when they want full time work
The same bus routes used to be full-time, middle class jobs with health care and a pension at Metro.
Join other IAF leaders at the rally to support Transdev workers.
