Listening Session at South Lake Elementary School
March 16, 2017 @ 6:30 pm - 8:00 pm
AIM builds power through our relationships. Rooted in relationship and our collective power we act together to create change. The first step to building real relationships across diverse communities starts with hearing and relating to each others’ stories and finding what we hold in common.
We will ask each other, “What keeps you up at night?” and “What is most dear to you?” This listening session will bring together a diverse group to have an inter-cultural conversation about the most pressing issues in our lives. It will also be a training to build the skills you need to take these organizing skills to your institution and the broader world. We want to listen broadly and widely. This session will lead to political action, and real change happening in our community and nation. It is a concrete way for people to get involved. If you know people who have been trying to figure out something meaningful to do in this political moment, this is it!
The conversations from the 2017 AIM Listening Campaign will build our People’s Agenda for the 2018 election and identify our top campaign issues. It is the first step to build power and work for justice together in Montgomery County. Thank you for committing to be a part of that.
Special guest, Superintendent of Schools Jack Smith.
